Description:

One of the better twists of Solitaire in my opinion, this game is as fun as it is simple.  Many solitaire games lack the color this game delivers and are too boring.  I would like for you to try this game out and don't be scared to share you opinion.

Current Features:

Multiple Shuffling
Enabling and Disabling of Scoring
Three Card Drawing Methods
Three Modes of Play
Custom Wild Cards Via Cheat Options
Two Types of Single Level Undo
Saving and Remembering of Settings

Source Code: The source code for this program is not available since it has been  released it as Shareware. (contact me for information on licensing the source-code).

Download: AcesKingsUP.exe , Msvbvm50.zip don't forget to download the VB5 runtime file if you don't already have it.

Due to card display corruption on some Diamond video cards I cannot in all good intentions incorporate images into EXE via a resource file, and must distribute then separately.  Sorry.

This is my first purchaser review that I have received, you have to read this one. Tonys_critique_of_Aces_and_Kings.htm

Game Rules:

Playing the Game:

The object of the game is to move all the dealt cards from the table to the Discard Pile by using combinations of clicking the Table Cards and the Discard Pile. You can only play cards that are 1 up or 1 down from the card currently on the top of the Discard Pile regardless of suit or color. As an alternative to going up and down one you may use jokers as wild cards. When you win a round by clearing the table the game will reshuffle the deck and deal you another hand automatically, your score will continue to grow until the game ends.

Winning and Losing:

If you Win the round by clearing the table then a new game will Automatically be dealt.

If there are no more valid moves left then a box will appear in the lower right corner you must click Try Again to continue playing.
If you score is high enough to be added to the high scores list then before the box appears, a dialog box will appear asking for you name so that you can take claim to your high score.

Customizing the Game:

Every Setting except for those related to cheat options is saved and remembered for next time you play.

By default you can play Aces on Kings and Kings on Aces. If you wish not to play this way you must use the "Options" menu "Play Mode" sub-menu to set that feature.

If you want to make clicking the Draw Pile or Background give you the same results as clicking the Discard Pile then you must use the "Options" menu "Card Drawing Method" sub-menu to set that feature.

If you want to Enable/Disable game scoring then you must use the "Options" menu "Scoring" sub-menu to set that feature.

If you want have the deck shuffled more than once you must use the "Options" menu "Shuffling" sub-menu to set that option. You may only shuffle up to three times.

To enable Cheat Mode for the first time go to the "Options" menu "Cheat Options" sub-menu and choose "Select Wild Cards". On this screen you can choose up to 6 additional wild cards, when you are done selecting your wild cards click on the "Continue Playing" button. To disable Cheat Mode you must go to the "Options" menu "Cheat Options" sub-menu and click "Disable Cheats". Disabling the cheats will disable all cheats but will not undo any cheats already processed. To Re-Enable the cheats you must go to the "Options" menu "Cheat Options" sub-menu and click "Cheats Enabled".

NOTE: If you have already played a customized wild card from the table your high scores name will still reflect that you have cheated even if you disable cheats until the next game.

Cheat Mode:

When you use cheat mode it allows you to to have up to 6 more wild cards. Due to fairness to non cheating players an asterisk (*) will be appended to the name entered when a high score has been attained. Scoring in cheat mode will be the same as in normal mode.

Cheat Mode will allow you to have longer lasting games with different rules, gameplay will be different for every different wild card you choose.

Scoring:

If scoring is enabled then for every card moved to the discard pile the anty or points to be added to your score will increase by five points until the Discard Pile is clicked to draw another card, then the anty will be reset to the original five points.

When you win a round your score will increase by five points for every card left in the draw pile.

When the current game is over and your score is higher than one on the High Scores Hall of Fame then the game will ask you for your name. To view the high scores click on the "Game" menus "High Scores" sub menu item.

To reset the High Scores use the "Scores" menu click "Clear High Scores" and choose yes.

Your score will also be changed as underlined in the Undo Penalization section.

Undo Penalization:

For each time you use the undo feature your score will be decreased by ten points and the anty will be reset to five points.

If however you score is less than ten points when you use the undo feature, your score will be reduced to zero points.
